5 Ways to Command your Day

ree

As far back as I can remember, I used to get frustrated whenever the devil came to attack or distract me. I never stood up to him or tried to defend myself against the lies. Even as a child I felt powerless to what the devil would throw at me. I often found myself being bullied by someone. My day would be led by how I was feeling or based off my emotions. Depending on what happened that morning would help me determine if my day would be good or bad.

If my kitchen appliances stopped working, the car broke down, or technical tools had issues, I felt powerless against the enemy as though there wasn’t anything I could do about it. I would just accept it as is and mope and get mad about having to buy another one.

It wasn’t until I heard someone say that you can command your day, that I started to take charge over my life. One day after I dropped one of my daughters off at school, I decided to stop at the gas station right down the road. After pumping gas, I got back in the car to start it and it wouldn’t start. It kept acting as though it wanted to turn over, but it wouldn’t. I waited a few minutes and tried again to no avail.

I called my husband told him I was stuck at the gas station. He immediately got frustrated and said, “This day is starting off bad already.” I told him not to declare that over the day and that the devil was a liar because the car was not having any trouble or showing signs of a problem before. I told him not to come and get me because I was going to wait a few minutes and see if the car would start. He agreed. After a few more attempts I remembered that I could command my day! I can say how this day would go and by faith I could stand on the promise that it would be a good day. I also could decree a thing according to Job 22:28, and it will be established.

So that is exactly what I did. I rebuked the enemy and declared that my car would start the way that God had intended, and that there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. After that I turned the key and the car started and I went on my way. This grew my faith even more that I don’t have to lie down and take whatever the enemy dishes out. I can decree a thing, and it will be established in my life for the plans and purposes that my Heavenly Father has for me. In the book of Job, there is a scripture that talks about commanding your day. Job 38:12-21 says, “Have you commanded the morning since your days began, and caused the dawn to know its place, so that it might take hold of the skirts of the earth, and the wicked be shaken out of it?...

  1. Command the day with powerful morning prayer and worship

Psalm 29:2 (ESV) “Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.”

  • Thank Your Heavenly Father for watching over you, your family, pets, etc.

  • Thank Him for giving the angels charge over you.

  • Spend time in worship

  1. Command your day by getting in the Word!

Psalm 119:9-11 (ESV) “How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”

  • This is an excellent way to hear from your Heavenly Father. This is one of the ways that the Lord speaks.

  • Everything you need for Godly living is found in your bible.

  1. Talk with the Lord and ask Him for His plans for your day

Psalm 55:17(ESV) “Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan, and he hears my voice.”

  • When you start the day off with prayer, it sets the tone for the rest of the day.

  • You are participating in prayer and revealing what’s on your heart. Yes, He already knows what is going on, but He still wants to have closeness with you. So, invite Him in!

  1. Commit your day to the Lord

Psalm 37:5 (ESV) “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.”

Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”

  • Commit all your ways into God’s hands today and lean not on your own understanding.

  • Commit all your steps to the Lord and let him guide you in everything you do

  1. Decree over your day

Job 22:28 (AMP) “You will also decide and decree a thing, and it will be established for you; And the light [of God’s favor] will shine upon your ways.”

  • Command your morning with faith-filled declarations.

  • Declare it is a new day.

  • Take authority over your day in the name of Jesus.

Prayer to start your day

Lord God, let my prayers reach you this morning. I confess that this is the day that the Lord has made, and I will rejoice and be glad in it. I don’t know what lies ahead for me today, but I commit my day to you. My life and my day are in your hands Lord. I commit my family, my finances, my health, my job to you today. No matter what happens throughout this day, I know that I am in the palm of your hands. Father God, I commit all my ways into Your hands today, and I lean not on my own understanding. I know that you will watch over me and keep me safe. You will show me the way I should go. Thank you for the destiny that you predestined for me, and I thank you that you will help me walk in your ways all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
